As a working team leader, this position works with HIM Management to ensure adequate staffing, the efficient use of resources and provides first-line problem resolution. The Lead HIM Analyst trains and mentors staff responsible for medical record analysis, transcription monitoring, ChartMaxx worklists, performs quality reviews for Joint Commision and Medical Staff reporting, assists manager with coaching and developing employee's skills.

Position Duties

  1. Coordinates orientation, training and coaching of new staff and participates in the administration of staff competencies. Provides staff training and orientation of all processing functions and duties to ensure consistency in the processes and achievement of optimal quality and accessibility of medical records.
    • Provides input to management on staff performance for annual evaluation process; recommends when corrective action should be initiated to address quality/performance issues.
    • Participates in development of training materials.
  2. Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to transcription. Acts as a liaison between vendors and IT.
    • Serves as a point of contact for internal and external customers and positively impacts employee relations.
  3. Participates in updating/maintaining departmental procedures to support and promote standard work processes within the department. Participates in development of training materials.
    • Monitors daily operations and processes and makes recommendations for improvement, as appropriate.
    • Completes all responsibilities of the HIM analyst.
    • Maintains quality monitors for work performed and participates in ongoing training of staff.
    • Reviews productivity standards and coaches/mentors staff to support achievement of established standards.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
