Position Summary

This position manages, evaluates and supervises operational functions and activities of Volunteer Services, 1 Darn Cool School, Animal Assisted Therapy and Pastoral Care to ensure operations achieve and comply with operating budget, restricted funds, strategic plans and customer service standards.

Position Duties

  1. Strategic Program Development
    • Develops and implements goals, strategies, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures, and practices in alignment with strategic plan for Volunteer Services, Animal Assisted Therapy, Pastoral Care, and Hospital School program.
    • Develops and manages Recruitment, Retention, and Recognition programs for hospital, Volunteer Services department which includes volunteers in Animal Assisted Therapy, Pastoral Care Program and 1 Darn Cool School.
    • Researches and develops new and innovative programs and services that are measurable, outcome-driven, and evidence-based.
    • Works closely and in conjunction with Communications, Foundation, Community Outreach, and other departments to prioritize the Hospital's participation in events and volunteer needs.
  2. Budget Management
    • Evaluates and manages Operating and Capital budgets including assists in management and evaluation of variance reports; identifies areas for cost containment; and develops, monitors, and manages productivity measures.
  3. Quality Management and Compliance
    • Quality Management and Compliance
    • Designs, implements, and monitors Quality Improvement initiatives including designing new processes, collecting, measuring, and disseminating data.
    • Complies with all applicable standards and regulations.
  4. Department Operations
    • Manages and monitors daily operations of Volunteer Services, Animal Assisted Therapy, Hospital School Program, AAT and all personnel related issues within the programs.
    • Provides leadership, prompt problem resolution, and communicates plan of action to staff and volunteers in a timely manner.
  5. Program Evaluation
    • Develops and maintains productivity records and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the departments.
    • Volunteer analysis will include areas of, but not limited to, volunteer applications, assignment tracking, progress reports, evaluations, and annual mandatory requirements.
    • Works closely with employees (and volunteers) to identify performance expectations and associated behaviors representing the Hospital to ensure solutions contribute to improved performance and optimal outcomes.
    • Develops metrics for Hospital School program, volunteer program, AAT, and Pastoral Care - evaluates program effectiveness, service delivery, and community partnerships.
  6. Professional Development
    • Maintains professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement by remaining appraised of volunteer management, pediatric healthcare delivery trends, volunteer trends, Chaplaincy standards and AZ educational standards.
  7. Supervision and professional development of staff
    • Develops and supervises staff through provision of timely feedback and use of appropriate Human Resource policies and tools to facilitate and ensure the ability of staff to achieve highest level of professional growth and desired performance standards.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
