Position Summary

Position Duties

  1. This position performs a variety of secretarial support activities for an area or department.
    • Answers telephones, receives packages and mail, and responds to inquiries via telephone, e-mail, facsimile, and mail.
    • Takes messages and routes to appropriate person or area.
    • Arranges and schedules a variety of meetings; initiates and responds to requests for scheduled time off by maintaining accurate and current calendars.
    • Assists with patient and employee inquiries; refers more complex inquiries to appropriate source.
    • Organizes, maintains, and files records, materials, references, and correspondence for department(s).
    • Prepares mailing lists, copies and assembles materials, and sorts and distributes documents and handouts.
    • Prepares requests for expense items and office supplies; forwards to appropriate management staff for approval.
    • Types, prepares, and collates a variety of correspondence and memoranda, meeting agendas, and minutes. Routs documents for signatures.
    • Updates records in spreadsheet or database.
  2. The secondary purpose of this position is to provide clinical support as needed. When performing clinical support duties, the position is supervised by the Provider on duty.
    • Assures proper patient identification with 2 patient specific identifiers, including labels
    • Performs venipuncture for blood sampling.
    • Obtains vital signs including height/weight with applicable chart.
    • Demonstrates communication based on a appropriate growth and development stage.
    • Prepares family and patients for all procedures utilizing infection control measures.
    • Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions.
    • Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider.
  3. Interaction with other staff
    • This position may provide basic work instructions to other administrative clerical staff and volunteer staff on occasion to meet project deadlines.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
